Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10, 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. The company was sold to the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. Then, shortly after she resigned from the company. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors was a featured guest of every episode of Shark Tank. In February 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment that was able to cover 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of a family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater.  Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He moved between jobs and the next during Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran recalls her father as someone who was drunk often and was rude to her mother. Corcoran was a struggle throughout her education before discovering that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school in her area and began the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was fluent in several courses her first year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a D.
